About APDC:

  • Petite Company

In Season 3, we put our youngest dancers on the competitive stage at the ages of 6 and 7! Dancers in the Petite Company are require to dance 1.5 hours a week in a Ballet/Tap Combo class where they work on their technique and competitive routine. Dancers are encouraged to take additional style classes to help build upon their style and grow within dance and the company. This is meant for dancers (roughly) ages 8 and under. Dancers who follow directions well, have strong attendance and are becoming comfortable performing in front of an audience will be invited to this audition for Season 6.

  • Regional Company

Dancers in this company are newer to the company/competition experience. Regional Company dancers are required to take 1 ballet class per week, a conditioning class (Turns and/or Strength) and classes that are in the genre of company they are in. Jazz is expected for all regional company dancers and those who take tap will be placed in a Tap company first. These dancers will compete in three local competitions in the spring, with the ability to add on more competitions, conventions and experiences throughout the season.

  • National Company

Dancers in this company are looking to train and compete at the highest level. Two ballet classes a week (1.5 hrs each) are required to be on this level of company. National Company dancers are also required to take Strength & Flexibility OR Turns & Progressions (dancers can take both if they choose). National Company dancers must participate in a minimum of two competitive styles and the Season 6 production number (an additional number may be added as a requirement). (Minimum number of dances to compete in is three). These dancers will compete in three-four competitions in the spring, one being out of town. Dancers will also participate in a convention. Season 6 is intended to be a Nationals year (at a to be determined location, out of town). Dancers in this company are able to participate in additional competitions and events that are cleared through the company director.

  • Information on Season 6

The structure of our companies may be getting an adjustment as we head into our 6th season. Basic requirements will remain the same, but the styles involved and requirements for group dances are subject to being adjusted. More final details will be coming closer to the 1st audition on May 31st.
